Our History
Blue Ridge Family Physicians is proud to present our practice history to you, our clients. Please take some time to read the information to the right.

Two medical school classmates, William D. Lee, M.D. and Lloyd Comstock, M.D., established Eden Family Practice in 1977. A third classmate, Brooks Wilkins, M.D., joined the Eden based practice in 1978.

In 1982, Drs. Lee and Wilkins re-located to 2500 Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh, North Carolina and established Blue Ridge Family Practice. As business grew, Blue Ridge Family Practice moved to two other locations. The practice currently resides at 2605 Blue Ridge Road and has been in this location since 1994.

1994 was a busy and momentous year in the history of the practice as its ownership was transferred to Rex Healthcare, Incorporated. By the end of June 2001, Blue Ridge Family Practice was serving approximately 51,000 patients from across the Raleigh-Durham area.

In September 2001, with the assistance of Rex Healthcare, the group began to formulate new plans to return to private practice.

Two practices emerged as a result of this decision. Drs Lee, Hamer, Avery, Steffens formed
Blue Ridge Family Physicians, PLLC.

The practice opened its doors to patients July 1st, 2002.
